Overview

Kagami-Method Plugins
What are Kagami-Method Plugins?

Kagami-Method Plugins are plugins for LastMeasure and Diplus.
Those plugins enable users to obtain measurements which are defined by "Kagami-Method", form shoe lasts in LastMeasure and feet in Diplus, respectively.

Kagami-Method has been being used to design shoe lasts based on foot measurements of each individual to make customized shoes for them.
Obtaining the measurements defined by Kagami-Method from foot and a shoe last means being able to obtain the measurements of foot and a shoe last which can be used to make shoes.
Those measurements are both based on the coherent definition so both of the measurements are consistent with each other.

These measurements and shapes can be used for:

  • Quantitative comparison of measurements between a shoe last and foot or another last
  • Shoe design based on foot measurements
  • Quantification or statistical analysis of features of feet or shoe lasts

Points and lines, which are based on Kagami-Method, plotted onto feet and shoe lasts are called Kagami-Method Fundamental Lines and plotting these is called Generation of Fundamental Lines.

Function

Conventional shoe designing used to be founded on individual designer's experience and intuition.
This fact made it difficult to research and analyse shoe-foot or different types of shoe lasts in a reproducible way.
It was also difficult to explain individual feature of shoe last in quantitative terms.

Kagami-Method Plugins eliminate those difficulties and help shoe designers explain the basis of their design and focus more on conducting reproducible and quantitative research and design.

By using Kagami Method, both feet and shoe lasts can be measured by definitions that are specialized for shoe making.
The definitions of measurements are corresponded to both shoe lasts and feet, making the relationship between shoe last measurements and foot measurements, to make it easier to compare shoe last and feet.

Thereby, by using Kagami-Method Plugins, users can generate both foot and shoe last data which can be used for scientific analysis.

Kagami-Method Plugins for Diplus

Major Functions
  1. Kagami-Method Fundamental Line Generation
  2. Obtain measurements of Kagami-Method Fundamental Lines of foot data loaded into Diplus.
  3. Exporting 3D and measurements data of Kagami-Method Fundamental Line
  4. 3D data can be saved as an OBJ file and measurement data can be saved as a CSV file.
  5. Real-sized printing of Kagami-Method Fundamental Lines of the bottom foot
  6. Kagami-Method Fundamental Lines on the bottom of the foot can be printed in the real scale on an A4 or A3 paper.
This can be used for shoe bottom design and similar purposes.
  7. Batch Processing
  8. Batch processing can process a lot of foot data at the same time. All of the measurement data can be exported as a single CSV file.

Kagami-Method Plugins for LastMeasure

Major Functions
  1. Kagami-Method Fundamental Line Generation
  2. Obtain measurements of Kagami-Method Fundamental Lines of shoe last data loaded into LastMeasure.
  3. Exporting 3D and measurements data of Kagami-Method Fundamental Line
  4. 3D data can be saved as an OBJ file and measurement data can be saved as a CSV file.
  5. Batch Processing
  6. Batch processing can process a lot of shoe last data at the same time. All of the measurement data can be exported as a single CSV file.
  7. Comparison between different shoe last measurements
  8. By using the built-in software "LastAnalysis", users can visually compare measurements of two different shoe lasts or ideal measurements of a given shoe last and its actual measurements.
  9. Cooperation with InsoleEditor
  10. Kagami-Method Fundamental Lines can be generated onto an insole base.
By using this lines, automated alignment of an insole and foot can be achieved on InsoleEditor.
  11. Cooperation with Kagami-Method Plugin for Diplus
  12. Measurement data of Kagami-Method Plugin for Diplus can be used as set value for Generation of Fundamental Lines of shoe last.
Namely, users can easily generate Fundamental Lines, simulating "a given foot in a given shoe last".
